Kinda reminds me of the arguments that terrible controls in Silent Hill games “add to the horror and helplessness”, and you “just didn’t get it” if you didn’t embrace that mentality. I don’t like the argument that “I didn’t get it and I didn’t embrace this design” so my opinion must be shit. I never called that bad game design (and if I ever did in another post, I apologize, I didn’t mean to), it’s definitely just my opinion. You might even need to switch weapons as often as every minute in high combat situations b/c of how fast they break. I’m criticizing it because I find it very frustrating to have to engage with that system so often and so repetitively. Yes, you can always collect new weapons and you’re encouraged to cycle through them and get as creative as possible. I’m actually surprised more people didn’t rag on me for talking about it, TBH. I’m not part of what I’m calling the defense force, folks who seem to rush in in high numbers whenever anyone legitimately criticizes this system.
